moving on . . .

New things are popping up over here at Capture Photography, and one of them is a NEW BLOG!  I'm leaving the Typepad world, so you can check it out here. Be sure to update your Google Reader, bookmarks, favorites, etc. to keep up with the latest news and sneak peeks. See you over there soon!

something new . . .

One of the fun things about moving into a new house is seeing the plants and flowers that pop up and surprise you through the seasons of that first year.  I remember when we lived in Memphis.  Our yard was lacking, to say the least, and we were so busy working on the inside of the house that the outside didn't get much attention!  We moved into the house in June, and throughout the next year, there were never any flowers in the front yard . . . UNTIL . . . the following Spring (April, maybe?).  What I thought was just a hedge bush blossomed into a beautiful azalea!  I was so happy to see some color in the yard, and it just seemed to make the whole house look better.  

Well, I am so excited that our new house has beautiful flowers that have popped up this summer.  The front flower bed is filled with these pretty little zinnias . . . yes, these came from MY yard!  I can take no credit for them, and I definitely don't have a "green thumb."  Even still, I'm enjoying them while they last!  I've cut vase after vase after vase, and they just keep coming!  I love the bright, bold colors, and I've always enjoyed having fresh flowers in the house.

Speaking of bright and fresh, I'm working on something fresh and fun for Capture Photography right now.  That's partially why I've been a little MIA over here lately.  But, stay tuned . . . it's coming really soon!

i {heart} this girl

This is my niece, Olivia Kate, and I got to spend some time with her and her parents over the weekend.  I love her to pieces, and I think she's BEAUTIFUL!  She went back home yesterday, and I miss her.  I snapped these [and a bunch more] in a matter of about three minutes, and I love them.  I think I might have to get one enlarged to go in our home so we can see her everyday!

my new subject . . .

Meet Piper, the newest addition to our family! We've had him for a week now, and let's just say that his time with us has been well documented so far! He's a sweetie, and we're enjoying him. I've never done a lot of pet photography, but I kind of like it!

I hope all of my *little* clients are enjoying the summer. We're having a good time and trying to stay cool :).

Okay, for all you Google Reader people, sorry for the previous weird posts.  I'm still trying to get used to this new Typepad format for posting.  I'll get the hang of it . . . thanks for being patient :).  I'm probably confused because I haven't posted in so long!  Between our busy schedule, the kiddos being at home for the summer, etc., I just haven't been very motivated.  We're heading to the beach tomorrow for vacation, so I'll have lots of fun photos to post once we get back!  Stay tuned . . . 

As far as the video goes, I REALLY like Dave Barnes (the guy on the right . . . who's really a singer/songwriter - NOT a photographer!), Jeremy Cowart (the REAL photographer who's filming the video) and photography, so this made me laugh!  I showed it to Brad, though, and he said he "didn't get it."  I think it's only funny for photographers who know the technical side of photography and equipment.  Anyway, I hope you photogs out there enjoy it as much as I did.  You should check out Dave and Jeremy's websites.  They are both amazing artists who live here in Nashville.  Hope you have a good weekend!

Mike & Tabitha's Wedding Photos

Mike & Tab . . . hitched!

Today was Mike and Tabitha's big day! I have a ton of images to go through, and I'm sure to post some this week. I thought I'd go ahead and put these up for now since I was waiting until today . . . so Mike wouldn't see :). Tabitha was beautiful, Mike was dashing, the weather was perfect, and all of the details came together very well. The ceremony was very sweet (I may be kind of partial since my hubby was the minister!), and we were so honored to be part of their special day! Stay tuned . . . wedding pictures coming soon!

On a personal note, we got moved into our new house. It has been a crazy couple of weeks, but we're getting settled and back to "normal."

I SOOOOOO wish . . .

. . . I could post some favorites from the bridal session I had with Tabitha this afternoon!!! I must wait, however, so that Mike doesn't sneak around and get an early glimpse of his oh-so-beautiful bride-to-be :). She and I spent a couple of hours at The Standard at the Smith House downtown today. Mike and Tabitha's reception will be there, and it was a great location for the bridal portraits. Tabitha's wedding gown is gorgeous, and she was simply stunning. With a beautiful location, dress and bride, the session was so easy and fun! I will be photographing their wedding in a couple of weeks, so I'll be sure to post some of these fabulous portraits after their big day! I can't wait to share, so stay tuned!

On a side note, our family is in the process of moving. We closed yesterday and will be painting and packing this week. We'll actually move next Saturday (the 10th). It's going to be a crazy couple of weeks, but I'll try my best to answer your calls and emails as quickly as possible. Thanks in advance for your patience!

i got to second shoot!

I got a call Saturday morning from the very talented Matt Andrews asking if I could come second shoot at a wedding he had that afternoon. His original second shooter got food poisoning the night before and couldn't make it. I, of course, was happy to oblige, and I had a great time at Kevin & Christina's wedding! It was truly an honor to be a part of their big day! I enjoyed second shooting because I was able to focus more on the details and the spontaneous moments. Here are a few I like . . .

You know I always find kids to photograph . . . no matter where I'm shooting! This was the sweet flower girl, who did a fabulous job, I might add!

I found this sign in the reception hall, and I thought it was too cute . . .

The groom's mom was so cute, and she had some GREAT dance moves . . . seriously!

Thanks, Matt, for giving me this opportunity. I don't know that I want to do wedding photography full-time at this point in my life, but I admire those photographers who do. It's hard work, but it's such an honor, too. I had fun and hope to do this some more in the future.
